Meet Jane

Jane (they/them) is a Senior Registered Nurse of 30 years, having worked across public health predominantly in Mental Health, in numerous roles from on the floor to senior management.

Jane is the CEO and Co-Founder of their own LGBTIQ+ charity for the homeless and marginalised (and their Pets) for people experiencing homelessness, called Homelessness We Care Perth (HWCP), which provides meals, perishable and non perishable goods, Vet care every Tuesday night and emergency hampers as needed.

They have ongoing involvement with a number of organisations in a consultatory/advisory and Board capacity, and is a frequent guest presenter on RTRfm’s Fitter Happier.

They are frequently called on as a public speaker (most recently the WA Events Industry Association Conference 2023 and the WACHS Palliative Care Conference Dec 23), and are sought out by a multitude of organisations as a speaker and SME in numerous subject arenas, including Mental Health, LGBTIQ+, homelessness and organisational change.

Jane is a LGBTIQ+ Project Manager at EMHS, and has driven numerous inclusivity changes such as the State-wide demographic database for patients (WEBPAS), and the HR database for staff of around 66,000 (HRPLUS).

They were awarded the Royal Perth Bentley Group Nurse or Midwife of the Year 2022, the Royal Perth Bentley Group Group Donna Coutts-Smith Excellence in Leadership Award 2022, are a nominee for Australian of the Year in 2022 & 2023, a nominee for Australian Citizen of the Year 2021 & 2023, and was recently awarded the Community Citizen of the Year 2024 for the City of Perth.

In their downtime, Jane can be found relaxing with her family and fur babies, binge watching NETFLIX, and hatching cunning plans.
